Kings' Forest Primary School Governors

Governors of a school have legal duties, powers and responsibilities to ensure that the school provides the best education for all pupils. They act together to do this.

The Governors are involved in all aspects of the school including these main aspects:

  1. Making decisions about how the budget is spent
  2. Setting standards of behaviour
  3. Making sure the National Curriculum is being followed
  4. Interviewing and selecting staff for the school
  5. Agreeing the School Development Plan to ensure the school meets its requirements in line with its aims.

There are four main categories of School Governors. They are:-

  1. Parent Governors-Elected by other parents. They have at least one child in the school
  2. Staff Governors-Elected by other members of staff
  3. Local Authority (LA) Governors-Appointed by the Local Authority
  4. Community Governors-Representatives invited to join the Governing Body and elected by other members of the governing body

All Governors serve a term of four years from when they start. The start date can be any time in the academic year. A list of Governors is provided in the prospectus and on this website. It is also available by request from the school office.

Arrangements for complaints

There are three levels of complaint that can be made.

  • Informal level-to the school
  • Formal complaint, in writing, to the Chair of the Governing Body
  • Formal complaint, to the Governing body in writing to the Chair of the Governing Body
  • Formal complaint to the Local Authority

Most complaints are best resolved by speaking to the class teacher or the Headteacher. If the matter is not resolved, all other complaints should be put in writing to the appropriate body.
