Links with Primary Schools in Slovenia and Uganda.
We have continued our links with schools in Slovenia and Uganda.  One of our projects with Slovenia was to draw the view from a classroom window.  We then exchanged our artwork with our partner school.  Our children were fascinated by the pictures we received and this generated a lot of discussion about similarities and differences.
We are going to continue and develop these links in the next academic year.

International School Award
This is a national award for schools and colleges to recognize their degree of internationalism in the curriculum.  We have already gained the first two stages of this award and have been working extremely hard this year to gain the final stage of the award. As part of this process we had to arrange at least seven whole school events.
In September we held a Day of Languages.

The children were able to learn some vocabulary in a variety of other languages. 

We also organised a Word Hunt in school and around the grounds to find “welcome” in a variety of different languages.  The children really enjoyed finding all the words. Some were much easier to find than others! 

Christmas
We have been very lucky this year to have a French Assistant working with the children to improve their language learning and knowledge of France and French life. Evelyne spent time in classes talking about Christmas in France. 
Years 3 and 4 Productions was based on explaining the origins of our Christmas customs.  We opened an International Advent Calendar and also exchanged home made decorations with our partner school in Slovenia.

Environmental Fashion Show
We continued after the new year with our children using different countries for the inspirations to design an outfit for our very own fashion show.  As we wish to instill in our children a desire to care for their environment we added an extra challenge, to only use recycled materials.
