French Day
This year we held a French Day on Monday 8th September. The children and staff came into school dressed in the colours of the French flag – the Tricolore – Blue, White, Red.
The hall was transformed into the ‘Café de Paris’ and the children experienced a wonderful French breakfast. The smells coming from the kitchen were amazing and the children thoroughly enjoyed trying pain au chocolat, croissants, pain and chocolat au chaud.
The day then continued with the children playing games, learning new vocabulary and reading and listening to stories.
In the afternoon the children were given the opportunity to mix with another class. This was a fun experience for the both the children and the staff! The children worked together to create some amazing art work based on several French artists including, Matisse, Rousseau and Monet.
The atmosphere and smiles on the children’s faces certainly made this a fantastic day and a great opportunity to continue learning a foreign language.
