PERFORMANCES
The Year 4/5 Performances of The Pinafore Pirates was very well attended and the actors and singers performed wonderfully. So many parents and grandparents commented on the talents of the children and we felt very proud of them.

TOP TABLE
Many of you will know that the Lunchtime Staff choose children to sit on the ‘Top Table’ on a Friday in the Dining Room. These children are chosen for good manners, eating well, being polite and using cutlery properly. Three children are chosen each week and they can have a friend to sit with them. This includes sandwich children. It is very popular!
EASTER EGGS
We received a wonderful collection of eggs for the Easter competition-so imaginative and creative. Thanks you for your efforts-we could see the hard work that went into them and the School Council had a hard job trying to choose winners.
CLOTHES FOR A CAUSE COLLECTION
Thank you for your contributions for the Clothes for a Cause collection which took place this morning. Items are sent to developing countries and this school gains in commission. Usually we raise two hundred pounds plus.
TEXT and E-MAILING SUCCESS
We have had so many positive comments from parents about the texting service and now we send many of our Newsletters home via e-mail. If you are not on this system and would like to be, then please contact the office and add your name to the e-mail list. This has saved a lot of ime and money and is better for the environment. It also means that we can include more photographs as printing costs are less.
SCHOOL COUNCIL AND OTHER PUPIL GROUPS
Our School Council is very active and they make a lot of decisions about events in school. Their current discussion is around painting the container in the playground so that it is colourful. They are going to run a competition for a design so watch this space.....
We have many teams of children working throughout the school to ensure that pupils feel involved in school life.
We currently have some very good gardeners, ably led by the pupil Head Gardener, Alex Oppery

Year 3 were recently involved in a Wildlife digital photography project and here is one of the photographs they took using a zoom lens.
WILDLIFE WONDER DAY YEAR 3
Pupil technicians help with laptops and assemblies and School Captains organise the Hall and help in school generally. This morning we have Secondary School coaches training Playground Leaders and they commented upon how outstanding the Y5 group were during the training.

We have a recycling team who look after paper and cardboard recycling and Busy Bees in Y2 who help generally. Our PE squad makes sure equipment is kept in good order by maintaining the PE cupboard.
All children in the School enjoyed visiting the Year 3 Museum

BOOK TOKENS
Your child may have brought home a £5 book voucher, presented in Assembly for reading. Many children have said that these are in a drawer at home. If your child has an unspent voucher, then please help them to spend it on the internet or in a bookshop. Alternatively, if they bring it back to school, I will order a book with them online.
T @ 2.30 has been running for a while now and we do have a faithful handful of parents who attend each time. Last time, they met with the Local Authority representative to discuss extended schools activities and I think it was very helpful. This is an informal session in the Hall from 2.30 and everyone is welcome-even if you just pop in when you come to pick up your child at 2.50/3.00. It is a chance for parents to meet together. Tea and Biscuits are free. The next tea@ 2.30 is on Wednesday 18th May.
SHELTER
We have had a new canopy built outside the Y1 classrooms. Children from both class 3 & 4 play outside and we encourage them to go out in all weathers, so we need some overhead cover. This will also provide shelter for parents at the beginning and end of the day.
Tomorrow we have a team of volunteers coming along to clear the pond and conservation area so that it is more user friendly for children. They will lay Forest bark pathways and remove thistles and undergrowth.
The PTA has kindly provided money for seats on the school field and these will arrive within the next week or so. They are funded from money raised by you-so thank you for that. |
