Safeguarding

The school takes it safeguarding duty very seriously. It understands and follows the procedures in Keeping Children Safe in Education (September 2023)

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility however, school staff are particularly important as they are in a position to identify concerns early, promote help for children and prevent early concerns from escalating.

All staff at Kings’ Forest have received the relevant safeguarding training and follow the procedures laid out in the Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy ( Safeguarding and child Protection Policy.) All concerns about a child will be passed on to the school’s designated safeguarding lead (DSL) or their deputy in their absence. The DSL will consider the information and if necessary take advice to determine if a referral to children’s social services is appropriate. In most cases this will be discussed with the parent/carer unless doing so would place the child at risk of harm.

Whilst the school has a duty to protect the data it holds, Keeping Children Safe is Education gives clear guidance that:

The data protection Act 2018 and GDPR do not prevent or limit, the sharing of information for the purposes of keeping children safe. Fears about sharing information must not be allowed to stand in the way of the need to promote the welfare and protect the safety of children. (paragraph 75)

If a parent/carer has concerns about the safety or welfare of a young person they should speak to:

Ms Porter: Designated Safeguard Lead (Headteacher)

Mr Newman: Deputy Designated Safeguard Lead (Executive Headteacher)

Wendy Miles: Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (Family Support Worker)

The Governor responsible for safeguarding is Carol Warrant and she can be contacted via the school office.

Parents/Carers can also contact the Access and Response team to report concerns or ask for advice:
